13:35 Market Rasen – Letterston Lily
She won very nicely at Cartmel on her first outing over hurdles. Her jumping was very good, and she showed a smart turn of foot. I am excited to get back on board. This is obviously a smarter race, with Gale Mahler looking like a smart mare. However, I would not swap my runner for any of the others in the field.
14:05 Market Rasen – Ilanz
The drop in trip did not suit him last time. He was never in the race. We are up to 2m4½f now, and he ran well over this distance at Plumpton on his first start for Olly Murphy. He is still high up the handicap, but I am hoping he can prove competitive in this race.
15:15 Market Rasen – Statuario
I am really looking forward to this horse in the Summer Plate. He has done nothing but improve this summer. He has finished third in the race before, and he has won a couple of times recently. I like how he is experienced, fit and in good form. I think he comes into this race with an excellent chance of winning it.
15:50 Market Rasen – Post No Bills
He has been slightly disappointing recently, but the ground has not helped him. He prefers ‘Good’ ground, and he should get that at Market Rasen. A drop down in the ratings will also make life easier for him. If he reproduces what he is capable of, he will be in the mix here.
17:00 Market Rasen – Easy Bucks
This horse has been in great form this summer. He will need to step up on what he did last time as this is much more competitive. Not many horses win three races in a row, but he deserves his place at the top end of the betting.
It is a great book of rides, and I am hoping I come away from Market Rasen with at least a couple of winners.
