Sean Bowen Saturday Blog | Stratford

Coral Racing Ambassador, Sean Bowen, previews his five rides at Stratford on Saturday, including The Wolf in the Class 3 Handicap Chase at 15:05.

It was great to ride a treble at Southwell on Thursday. I came very close to riding a four-timer as my last ride (Rock On Tommy) of the day was denied by just a neck. I’ve got a healthy lead at the top of the Jockeys’ Championship, but I am taking nothing for granted just yet, as there are plenty of race days left before the season ends. There are some exciting festivals to come in the spring, so there’s lots to look forward to over the next few weeks.

I have five rides at Stratford on Saturday, and I am hoping I can ride a winner or two.

13:55 Stratford – Dambuster

This horse was a very expensive yearling, and he has some good Flat form before joining Olly Murphy’s yard. This is a strong novice hurdle for Stratford, with Nicky Henderson having a smart one in there. It’s probably a lot to ask for him to win first time out for us, but we are hoping for a nice run and something to build upon going forward for the summer.

14:30 Stratford – Present De Vango

He is nicely handicapped with a mark of 92, but he has been off the track for a long time. I think he will go up in trip after this race, and he is another one to put in your notebook as a horse to keep an eye out for over the summer months.

15:05 Stratford – The Wolf

He is a consistent horse who rarely runs a bad race. We were happy with his last run where he was beaten by a horse that won again at Warwick on Thursday. I am expecting another big performance from him. He has just three rivals to beat here and we should have an excellent chance.

16:15 Stratford – Inspiratrice

She ran nicely last time but just got tired late on. That run will have sharpened her up and, on her day, she is a decent mare. She is at the bottom end of the weights here and the ground will suit her.

16:50 Stratford – Tropical Speed

He hated the ground last time at Lingfield. His best form has come on good ground. He does need to bounce back from his latest performances, but with conditions in his favour, there is a good chance he will do that.
