Aspire To Glory recently worked on our grass gallops for the first time, and I was pleased with what he produced.

Despite his age and inexperience, he went about his work very easily. He led a group of three horses, and he was on the bridle throughout – it all looks natural to him.

What has struck me about Aspire To Glory since he has been in my stable is how much he has strengthened. That is a good sign as not only is he becoming more powerful, but it also means he is doing well in himself.

I’d say we are around two to three weeks away from his racecourse debut which will be in a five-furlong or six-furlong contest. I’ll make sure it is decent ground as we would not want to run him first time out on anything that is too soft.

To get him ready for that first run, I am going to do some work with him in the stalls. This is a very important part of the racecourse process. As you may have seen before, some horses struggle to go into the stalls, so the more work we do at home, the better prepared he will be at the start of the race.

I was delighted to hear there were over 11,000 entries to name Aspire To Glory. Congratulations to Keith from Yorkshire who submitted the name – I look forward to meeting you on Aspire To Glory’s first run – and I hope to meet as many of the Coral Racing Club members throughout the season on what is going to be an exciting journey.
