WATCH: Cast No Shadow finishes 4th at Lingfield | Highlights and post-race interview with Tom Marquand
He was drawn in stall 1, and following a tardy break from the gates, he ended up being held up behind a handful of opponents and had to be restrained slightly by jockey Tom Marquand.
Lingfield is not an easy track to navigate around sometimes with the tight turns, especially over sprint distances with the speed that each of the horses are running at.
It's fair to say the early signs of greenness didn't do Cast No Shadow any favours, but once he entered the home straight in the latter stages of the race, he showed us some signs of real promise.

Passing three rivals under a firm drive from Marquand, Cast No Shadow pipped Archie Watson's Our Melody to 4th place, scooping £357 in prize money for his lucky owners for the day who all went away with a 10% share each.
Post-race report from trainer Hugo Palmer
Cast No Shadow has pulled up well after his second run at Lingfield yesterday. His shins are cold and pain-free and he seems to have taken the race really well, which is a very good sign.
The race itself was less than ideal. It was never my intention to run him at Lingfield, as I always wanted to run him on the straight track at Southwell but of course the meeting was cancelled.
He had a good draw but stepped just a shade slowly and had what could have been a good pitch, stolen from him in the early part of the race. He was shuffled back and was a little bit green and just as he got the hang of it, they steadied the pace, which made him a bit keen. He had plenty of ground to make up in the straight and whilst he never looked like winning, I was really pleased that he ran on all the way to the line.
The next available race isn’t until the 10th November at Newcastle, but all being well, that is where we will head and I am looking forward to the race as he has shown that he is capable of winning races.
