WATCH: Exciting news for Conservative following final prep work
He’s ready to run and I intend to declare him tomorrow for Monday in the 0-95 One Mile Handicap (15:40) at Southwell.
As planned we worked Conservative this morning over 7f against another horse of ours, Harbour Vision, who is a tough handicapper and a solid work horse (by that I mean he always tries).Conservative was ridden by professional jockey Phil Dennis and Harbour Vision was ridden by Katherine who looks after and usually rides Conservative. Conservative was carrying 9lb more in the saddle than Harbour Vision and he worked very well. Phil Dennis waxed lyrical about him when he jumped off afterwards.
We will obviously see how he eats today after his work and we will trot him up this afternoon and again tomorrow morning before pushing the declaration button, but he seems fine post work. I don’t know which jockey will ride him yet, but I’m currently looking as sadly Phil is too heavy as Conservative has to carry 8 stone 9 pounds as it stands now.
We are all looking forward to Monday, especially Katherine, who has done such a great job with him. She was buzzing after seeing him work so well. We will learn a lot from getting him onto the track for the first time for us, but he’s fit and ready to do himself justice.
Congrats to the 10 Owners for the Day who won this week's competition, I'm looking forward to seeing you there at Southwell on Monday.
