Latest update from Scott Dixon on Conservative:
"I was really pleased with his run on Monday, turning for home he was still travelling sweetly and for a few seconds I thought we had every chance of hitting the frame. Having watched it again, they probably went a bit too fast up front early on, and that set the race up for those coming off the pace, and our fellow probably got a bit tired as well, which is to be expected after his layoff.
The jockey also reported that a slightly longer trip would suit him as well, and so taking that into account, I’m looking at a mile race at Wolverhampton on 6th February, it’s a 0-80 rated handicap with decent prize money, hopefully the handicapper will drop him a pound from his current mark of 81, although I wouldn’t expect a drop of any more.
Most importantly, he trotted up absolutely sound after the race, and again the following morning. He’s also had a canter on the track since Monday, and again, everything is spot on with him, so it’s all systems go, and we have lots to look forward to."
