Conservative update: Ticking over with some steady gallops
Unfortunately, Conservative had a little setback last week, which meant he was not able to run at Wolverhampton on Monday, as we had planned. I was not happy with the way he was travelling in one of his final workouts before that scheduled race.
I am pleased to say he is now moving fine, and he seems happy himself, which is obviously good news. We are still waiting for his bloodworm test results to come back this week. They will hopefully rule out any serious conditions.
Until we get the all-clear from his results, we won’t do any extensive work with him. We will just get him ticking over with some steady gallops. As disappointing as it is, these things happen and the most important thing is the welfare of the horse, so we also do what is right for them.
Aside from Conservative, it has been a good week for my yard. We are ticking over nicely with winners. The pick of them was Fine Wine’s success at Newcastle last Friday. He set a new course record with that performance. It has meant he has qualified for the All-Weather Championship Finals on Good Friday, which is something for us to look forward to.
