Jim Crowley 1000 Guineas Preview: She could end up winning this race quite easily
Coral Racing Ambassador, Jim Crowley, provides an exclusive preview on his four rides at Newmarket on 1000 Guineas Day.
13:15 Newmarket – Anmaat
He was very progressive last year. He carries a penalty for that success at Longchamp in October and he will need to give weight to the rest of the field here, which will not be easy. But much like Mutasaabeq on Friday, if this horse runs to the top of his game, there is no reason why he can’t prevail.
Owen Burrows’ horses are in great form at the moment. He is the second highest rated in the race, he is a horse I like a lot, and if Adayar is lacking fitness in his first run of the season, hopefully we can take advantage of that.
14:25 Newmarket – Tarjamah
She is a nice filly who won her only start at Wolverhampton at the back end of last year, but this is a big step up in class for an Oaks trial.
We are pleased with everything she has done at home leading into this race and we will know a lot more about her after this run.
15:00 Newmarket – Al Husn
She was very progressive last season, winning a handicap at this course over 1m1f on her last run.
She is not a big filly. I don’t think she will mind any ease in the ground, but this again is obviously a step up in class for her. I think she will run well but it is a big ask for her.
15:40 Newmarket – Polly Pott
She is by Muhaarar and they stay very well. She is a tough and genuine fully who will enjoy the cut in the ground.
This will be the first time I will be riding her. The betting suggests we are an outsider, but if you are not in it, you can’t win it. Billesdon Brook won this race at 66/1 back in 2018 for Richard Hannon, so you never know.
Tahiyra is the filly with a big reputation, but I am a big fan of Remarquee for Ralph Beckett. She looked very inexperienced last time but you can see she has bags of ability. I think if she takes a step forward, she could end up winning this race quite easily.
