More poor weather forces Lady Mendoza out of her race at Cartmel
When we declared her for Cartmel on Saturday morning, the going was good all over, but after they raced there on Saturday, they were hit by 23mm of rain on Saturday evening, and despite a nice warm, drying day on Sunday that saw things improve a little, another 5mm overnight Sunday into Monday morning meant we woke up to soft going.
Therefore we’ve made the decision not to run her. We had already made another entry for her at Uttoxeter this Friday, in case this happened, so that will now be Plan B. She hadn’t left the yard for the journey for Cartmel on Monday morning, so instead she’ll work with the rest of the string, and that will keep her ticking over.
The Uttoxeter race is a handicap hurdle just shy of three miles, and the going there is currently good, although there is a band of rain forecast for Thursday that we’ll have to keep any eye on! Hopefully it will miss the track, as she’s ready to run, but this frustrating summer continues.
