Rebecca Menzies: Lady Mendoza seems a much happier horse following her summer break
We brought Lady Mendoza back in from the field a couple of weeks ago, and she really seems to have appreciated the break and having the sun on her back.
She seems a much happier horse, and it certainly seems to have perked her up a bit. We haven’t done any serious work with her yet, but she’s done plenty of trotting and hacking and spent plenty of time on the walker, so we’ll just slowly build her up over the coming weeks leading up to schooling her over some fences.
A few of the ones we brought back in a few weeks before her are about a month off a run, so I’d say the earliest we’ll see her on the track would be the end of October, but we’ll just tick along with her and see how she progresses over the next few weeks, but the plan is still definitely to go chasing right away, and hopefully there’ll be some winnable opportunities for her in the autumn.
We have our next stable visit booked in for Saturday 16th September, and we are all very much looking forward to welcoming the Coral Racing Club members to Howe Hills once again.
