Lady Mendoza could be set for handicap debut next week – latest update from Rebecca Menzies
Lady Mendoza has been in fine form over the past few days, so I think she's really coming back to herself, which is great to see.
She's been doing some steady cantering over the past few days, but we'll be looking to step her work up over the next couple of days to get her nice and fit for her next run.
We have a race in mind for her at Sedgefield on Tuesday 14th March, which is a 0-105 handicap hurdle over just short of 2m4f. Sedgefield is only down the road from us which is handy, and it looks a nice opportunity for her off her opening handicap mark of 100. We are forecast some frost up here over the next couple of days, so we’ll have to monitor conditions, but all being well, I’d say that would be an ideal race for her.
UPDATE: Lady Mendoza has been entered in the 15:10 Sedgefield on Tuesday 14th March
The horses have been running really well in the last few days. We had two winners on Friday, Twoshotsoftequila at Doncaster, then Odd Socks Havana up at Newcastle, and we’ve had plenty hit the frame too, so they really seem to be coming back to their best.
I’m really looking forward to Lady Mendoza’s next run, so hopefully we can get to Sedgefield next week, and I look forward to meeting the lucky owners for the day at the racecourse.
