In our latest video, Michael talks us through how he fell in love with racing, and how that passion led to the birth of Manor House Stables and its progression to the thriving, high-performing racing operation it is today with classic-winning racehorse trainer, Hugo Palmer at the helm.

Hugo is the trainer of Cast No Shadow, a 2yo colt by Ardad who was purchased for £30,000 in April this year and was recently named by one of our very own members.

As many of you will know, Michael enjoyed an illustrious career as a professional footballer pulling on the England shirt 89 times and playing for some of the biggest football clubs in the world – including Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Newcastle United. 

Since retiring from football in 2013, Michael has focused most of his time, energy and passion developing the state-of-the-art training facility at Manor House Stables achieving fantastic results from this beautiful North West base.
