Autumn debut remains the target for Phoenix Of Dreams – latest update from John Quinn
We are delighted that our Coral Racing Club horse now has a name, and I’m delighted to say Phoenix Of Dreams has really matured and stepped forward in recent weeks.
We obviously gelded him which can help these young horses concentrate on the job at hand, but he’s looking really well at the moment and he’s pleased us so far with what he’s shown on the gallops. We haven’t asked any major questions of him yet, but he’s cantering away and seems to be really enjoying his work.
He’s pretty relaxed at home and seems to have a lovely temperament which is always good to see. He’s had a few small setbacks along the way, but we seem to be getting a good run with him now and we’ll take our time with him and just gradually step his work up.
We’ll probably look to have him on the track for the first time in the autumn, then depending on how he gets on we’ll take it from there. If he does show us plenty of promise on his first start, then we might keep him going on the all-weather into the winter as there are some winnable opportunities for these horses at that time of year.
We’ll keep everybody updated with his progress, but we are looking forward to meeting the Coral Racing Club members very soon, and hopefully it won’t be long till we get to see him on the racecourse.
