Rockstar Icon working "better than ever" and could feature at Newmarket this weekend ahead of Goodwood target
The little break we had to give him has done him the world of good, he’s showing no ill-effects at all of the pollen allergy that was affecting him, and now it’s been treated, it shouldn’t be an issue again, particularly as it is generally a seasonal problem.
It was obviously frustrating that we had to stop with him after his Newmarket reappearance, we had it in our minds that he could have been a horse for Royal Ascot, but obviously that didn’t happen. However, now he’s showing such positive signs at home, I believe we can start to think he could be one to take to Glorious Goodwood.

We know what a big meeting Goodwood is for Coral, as major sponsors there, and we’re looking at the final race on the Wednesday. It’s a seven furlong handicap for horses rated 76 - 95 [Rockstar Icon is rated 80], so could be ideal. The form of his Newmarket fifth looks decent, several subsequent winners have come out of the race, so if he continues to progress as he is, we could be in for a big day on the Sussex Downs.
Before that however, we’ve given him an entry at Newmarket this weekend. We’ll work him at home in midweek, and depending on how that goes, we may take up the Saturday engagement as a race will bring him on plenty ahead of Goodwood if we feel that will work better than just galloping him at home, so we’ll keep you posted.
