Oliver Cole "very happy" with Rockstar Icon as he sets his sights on two Glorious Goodwood targets
That work took place on Wednesday, and then on Thursday morning we had a look at him, weighed him, and that’s when we decided we’ll keep him at home.
We just want to get a little bit more weight off him before Glorious Goodwood, and we feel we can best do that working him at home a couple more times, rather than racing him and taking the weight off in one go. We are not concerned about going straight to Goodwood without a run as we can get him fit at home, and indeed we are very happy with where we are with him right now.
We’re looking at two options at Goodwood, the Class 3 Handicap (76 – 95) over seven furlongs on the Wednesday, and the Class 3 Handicap (71 – 90) over a mile on the Thursday. Although he's not raced over a mile so far, he is certainly bred to get it, so we wouldn't have any concerns if that was the option we went for.
We will enter him in both races, and make a decision at entry time when we have an idea of the opposition in both races.
