'We don’t know yet just how good he might be' – latest update on Rockstar Icon
We were delighted with Rockstar Icon’s run at Haydock last weekend, he didn’t have the clearest of runs but still finished second to the favourite.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the form of this race looked quite decent by the end of the season, and his first run at Windsor is working out well also.
He really enjoyed the extra furlong of Saturday’s race and as he was initially in great form after the race, we entered him at Epsom next week with the intention of running. Unfortunately that won’t now happen, as we’ve picked up a slight issue with his shins. It’s nothing serious, just some soreness that can happen with these young horses when they are constantly growing, like growing pains with children really.
All it means is we will give him an easy couple of weeks, we can still keep him moving but he won’t do any fast work. He will soon be back in full work though, so we won’t lose too much time with him. The most important thing is to look after him as we think he’s a lovely young horse.
We don’t know yet just how good he might be, but there’s plenty to look forward to with him.
