Sean Bowen ready to fight again for the Jockeys' Championship title
Sean had a fantastic season in the saddle, riding 157 winners from 722 rides (22%), and if you'd have asked 100 racing fans who they thought was going to win the title just before Christmas, it's more than likely at least 90% would've said Sean's name.
However, on Boxing Day at Aintree, Sean sustained a knee injury following a heavy fall which saw him sidelined for many weeks, giving fierce rival Harry Cobden the opportunity to pounce. And even though Sean was able to make his comeback before the end of the season, unfortunately he wasn't able to reclaim the lead after Harry had gone past him in the table.
In the end it was just seven victories that split the pair, and the rivalry between them as they entered the final weeks of the battle made for a very entertaining spectacle, which was great to witness for all racing fans.
If anything, though, the defeat has given Sean even more motivation to come back fighting, and once again make sure he is in contention come Jumps Finale day next year and hopefully, be the one to come out on top.
