WATCH: West End Boy scoops top prize with Plumpton success | Raceday Highlights
He was supported heavily in the market throughout the morning, which came as no surprise given how he could turn up without a penalty following his victory at Wincanton just eight days prior, and he was eventually sent off as the 8/13 favourite – the shortest price yet for any Coral Racing Club runner.
However, it wasn't as plain sailing as you'd perhaps expect, with West End Boy suffering interference around a couple of hurdles and coming under pressure around the home turn.
Jockey Freddie Gingell did a fantastic job yet again in the saddle, and you can tell when watching the highlights that West End Boy was really working with Freddie, especially in the final stages of the race.
It was a lovely moment for his lucky Owners for the Day, who'd won the chance to be his owners for the raceday through the competition we ran here on the Hub just a few days earlier, as they got to witness it all live at Plumpton, whilst celebrating the success with the Tizzard team and getting to take home just over £600 cash each.
